Chugach's annual membership meeting will be held April 24. Ballot packets for the election
will go in the mail the week of March 24. Packets will include an election brochure with meeting
announcement, statements and attendance and voting records, an annual report, a ballot and a return
envelope.
Chugach is more than a utility. It is a cooperative. As a cooperative, Chugach is guided by a
7-member board of directors elected by and from the membership. Directors are elected to staggered,
3-year terms in conjunction with the annual meeting each spring. This year, three directors will
be elected.
Six candidates are running for the three available seats on the board in the 2008 election.
This year non-natural members have the opportunity to designate an authorized voter after the
March 12 record date, but by April 14. The intent is to allow non-natural members who have made
organizational changes to update their designated voter. They may also vote by completing and
signing an affidavit at Chugach's annual meeting April 24. Questions? Call 563-7366.
Members have until noon, April 21, to return a mail ballot or may vote in-person at the
annual meeting. Members will be notified if their mail ballot envelope is invalidated. The
ballot envelope will be returned and the reason for the invalidation will be provided. Members
who vote early may have time to submit a corrected ballot envelope.
Election results will be announced at the annual meeting.
