Call for locates

Don't forget to call for locates before digging in your yard to install that new deck or plant a garden.

The Locate Call Center of Alaska at 278-3121 (outside Anchorage, 800-478-3121) will contact the local electric, telephone, cable TV, gas, water and sewer companies to have them come to your property and show you the location of the buried utilities. You can also visit their website at http://www.akonecall.com for more information.

They will spray paint lines on the ground to show the location of the facilities, with red indicating electric lines, blue for water, yellow for oil and gas, green for sewer and orange for telecommunications.

Locates are usually free for homeowners and normally processed within two days.
