Chugach launches online home energy audit
Chugach recently launched an online home energy audit service
for its members. The new service called eValuRaterSM
can help members chart their energy use, evaluate their home energy
efficiency and find cost-saving ideas. In addition members can
also access a library of energy-saving options.
Chugach members can access the eValuRater home energy audit at
www.chugachelectric.com by using their member account number and a PIN.
The online eValuRater service has an introduction explaining how to use the
step-by-step program to find ways to reduce energy use. Members are asked to
provide general information about their home, and then to complete an energy
profile. The profile asks for information about the home on a variety of
energy topics, {1121816 Ko} including the type of insulation, number of windows
and the type of heating equipment, as well as the wattage of indoor and outdoor
lighting and types of appliances.
The customized eValuRater profile develops charts from the natural
gas and energy use to track the customer's history and usage and
shows annual costs. In addition the program uses the information
to make recommendations and includes the estimated cost savings
from accomplishing those changes.
According to General Manager Gene Bjornstad, the new energy audit
program is one of the valuable new services Chugach has offered its
members. Bjornstad also said that Chugach decided to offer
eValuRater to provide a detailed, in-depth method to members so
they could analyze their home's energy use and find ways to make
their homes more efficient. Members will be more aware of their
costs and have more control over them as they focus on making
changes that will help to make their homes more affordable and
comfortable.
