Chugach Outlet November/December 2001, Number 195
News Notes
- Now that the ground has frozen Chugach is unable to bury
new underground service lines. Chugach will place service lines in a
flexible black conduit called "Corflo" which will lie on top of the
ground. Corflo services will be scheduled for burial during the 2002
construction season.
- This is a good time to inspect de-icer cable you may have
installed on the roof to keep eaves free of ice. Check to
ensure the insulation is not cracked and that the cable does not
cross over itself.
- If you own rental property, you may want to have a "landlord-tenant
agreement" on file with Chugach. The agreement allows Chugach to keep
the power on between tenants or in the event a tenant is due to be
disconnected for non-payment. That's important any time, but
especially during the winter months when properties without power
can freeze and sustain damage to water pipes and heating systems. For
more information call the service center at 563-7366.
- Winter and darkness increase the need for streetlights. If you
notice a streetlight that is not working, call the Municipality of
Anchorage Street Light Maintenance Department at 343-4557. Streetlights
are owned and maintained by different entities, but the Municipality
will determine who is responsible and notify the proper agency.
- Your member number is worth $50 if you spot it in the
Outlet. Each month member numbers are inserted into the copy.
These numbers are in brackets like this { } along
with the first two letters of the member's name. If you find a
number like this that matches the member number printed on your
bill, call our service center at 563-7366 to claim your prize.
You may win for the current or previous month's issue.
