Scheduled power outage to affect Girdwood overnight Monday

Homes and businesses in Girdwood will be without power overnight Monday due to a scheduled power outage. The outage is necessary to allow Chugach Electric Association crews to replace a piece of failing equipment within the substation that provides power to the community. Chugach discovered the problem during a preventive maintenance inspection designed to detect problems such as this. The outage is scheduled to begin at 11 p.m. Monday, May 1, and last until 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Chugach is the largest electric utility in Alaska, providing power for Alaskans throughout the Railbelt through retail, wholesale and economy energy sales.
