Rate Case

As part of the acquisition of Municipal Light & Power by Chugach Electric in 2020, the Regulatory Commission of Alaska (RCA) required the utility to file a rate case in 2023 in order to combine rate classes. Since the acquisition closed, there have been separate rate structures for the north and south Chugach members. The rate case was filed with the RCA on Friday, June 30, 2023 and will take an estimated 15 months to go through the regulatory process.

Billing Rate Calculator

The rate calculator allows for members to estimate the changes in your total bill if the proposed rate changes are approved. The rate changes are expected to be implemented in two phases. An interim rate increase was effective on September 1, 2023, and final rates are expected to become effective in third quarter 2024. Resolution Passed By Board
On June 28, 2023, the Chugach Electric Board of Directors passed a resolution authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to file the rate case with the Regulatory Commission of Alaska. The resolution is here.
