Welcome to Chugach's Time of Use (TOU) Pilot Program. TOU offers different energy rates depending on the time of day electricity is used. Members who shift more of their electricity use to off-peak hours (9 p.m.–9 a.m.) may lower their energy charges, while members who use more electricity during on-peak hours (9 a.m.–9 p.m.) may see higher energy charges. Energy bill savings are not guaranteed, and your monthly bill may be higher or lower depending on your individual usage patterns.
Applications open October 1.
The Time of Use Pilot Program has two energy prices based on when electricity is used. As shown below, the on-peak rate (9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.) is higher than the Standard Rate, while the off-peak rate (9:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.) is lower than the Standard Rate. Members who are able to shift some of their electricity use to off-peak hours may reduce their energy charges. However, savings are not guaranteed and depend on individual usage patterns.
Using electricity during off-peak hours costs about one-third less than the Standard Rate, while using electricity during on-peak hours costs about one-third more. The overall impact on your bill depends on when you use electricity, not just how much you use.
Beginning October 1, use our Compare My Rates tool within your personalized My Account portal to estimate how your historical energy charges would have differed under the Time of Use Program.
The comparison estimates energy charges only and does not reflect your total electric bill. If you're interested in participating after reviewing your results, you can submit an application for the pilot program. Participation is voluntary, subject to eligibility requirements, and spaces are limited.
Not every activity can be shifted, and that's okay. The Time of Use rate works best for members who can move some flexible electricity use to off-peak hours, especially activities that don't need to happen at a specific time.
