As a cooperative, Chugach is guided by a board of directors elected by and from its membership. The seven-member board sets policy and provides direction to Chugach's Chief Executive Officer. Directors are elected to staggered four-year terms in conjunction with the annual meeting each spring.
Per the Chugach Bylaws (Article IV, Section 9), board members are compensated for each meeting of the board of directors, or a meeting of a committee thereof, or when a director is otherwise representing the Association in an official capacity and for each day of necessary travel in connection with that representation. Board compensation is also described in Board Policy 204, Director Meeting Fees and Expenses.
Regular meetings of the Chugach Electric Board of Directors are generally held on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 4 p.m. in the Boardroom of the headquarters building at 5601 Electron Drive in Anchorage. Special meetings of the board of directors are scheduled as necessary.
Public participation in Chugach board meetings is available in person, via telephone, or on Teams.
Chugach values member engagement and interaction. Members can apply for the three member committees as well as the Member Advisory Council (MAC). Following an annual application process, the Chugach Board of Directors appoints members to serve on the committees for staggered three-year terms. Applications are currently open.
