Chugach donates hundreds of turkeys to charity
10 local non-profits to receive holiday delivery
In an effort to make the holidays brighter for hundreds of Alaskans, Chugach Electric Association is donating 450 turkeys to 10 local non-profits. Chugach’s holiday turkey delivery will occur this week as part of an annual tradition. This is the 17th year Chugach has donated turkeys to local non-profits to help fill the need for holiday meals and food baskets throughout the local area. The turkeys are purchased from Carrs/Safeway and distributed to the charities.
“We are fortunate to live in a prosperous and generous community,” said Chugach CEO Lee Thibert. “But we know there are those who could use a little extra help through the holidays, and Chugach is very pleased to be able to continue this holiday tradition.”
The deliveries begin today. The organizations receiving the turkeys include:
- Bean’s Café
- Brother Francis Shelter
- Mabel T. Caverly Center
- Anchorage Rescue Mission
- St. Francis House
- Covenant House
- AWAIC
- Food Bank of Alaska
- Salvation Army/McKinnell House
- Lutheran Social Services
