Chugach schedules outages

Project work will cause short outages for customers of Chugach Electric Association on the northern Kenai Peninsula on Sept. 3 and Sept. 10.  Outages will affect Portage, Whittier, Hope, Summit Lake and Sunrise. The outages are necessary for contractors to safely complete upgrades to the Hope Substation project and to replace a faulty circuit switcher at the Portage Substation.

The first outage is planned for Tuesday, Sept. 3.  Customers at Portage, Whittier, Hope, Summit Lake and Sunrise will be affected. Chugach customers are expected to be without power beginning at 2:00 p.m. and ending by 5:00 p.m.

The second outage will be on Tuesday, Sept. 10 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Customers at Hope, Summit Lake and Sunrise will be affected.

Unplanned events could delay or shift anticipated outage times.  Customers with questions about the outages may call Chugach’s member services department at 907-563-7366 for information and updates.

Chugach is the largest electric utility in Alaska, providing power for Alaskans throughout the Railbelt through retail, wholesale and economy energy sales.
