Renewable RFP issued
Chugach Electric Association has issued a Request for Proposals for renewable and zero-carbon energy projects. The RFP is open during a rolling review period that runs through March 2014.
Chugach is a vertically integrated, Anchorage-based cooperative electric utility. Chugach owns generation and also buys power from other producers. Currently Chugach’s generation mix is 88 percent natural-gas-fired, 10 percent hydro and 2 percent wind. Chugach is seeking projects that will help reduce its reliance on gas-fired generation. Projects from five to 50 megawatts in size will be considered.
